If you’ve been looking into spirituality, chances are you’ve come across the Archangels – but the question is, who are the Archangels and what do Archangels do in the spiritual world?
Archangels are beings of light – they represent the highest truth and compassion and strive to protect and guide us, offering wisdom and protection. Archangels always offer support and guidance, while obeying the universal law of free will: they never force a decision or direction.
Archangels will come to you at times of need, sometimes through the use of cards, sometimes through a medium, and sometimes directly to you.
There are 16 Archangels – and we’ll be looking at each of them in greater detail in the coming months, but for now, let’s have a quick look at them all, and their spiritual purpose.
Archangel Michael – The Protector
Archangel Michael is like everyone’s spiritual bodyguard – he offers protection and defends truth and justice. He also offers guidance for us to understand our internal power, so that we can grow and move forward in life.
Archangel Raphael – The Divine Physician
Archangel Raphael supports healing for the mind, body and spirit. He also guides healing for all physical wellbeing and health related matters.
Archangel Metatron – Empowerment
Archangel Metatron is the strongest of all the Archangels, he empowers people to use their spiritual energies for good, and encourages spiritual ascension. He is also the Scribe – recording all of the choices made on Earth. He is also the angel who guides the clearance of energy fields, particularly through the use of the Metatron Cube.
Archangel Ariel – The Peaceful Warrior
The Archangel Ariel is the Peaceful Warrior, she is known as the Lioness of God, and engenders connection with animals, acting as their guardian and healer. She also encourages the fulfilment of potential and helps people to fulfil their true strength.
Archangel Chamuel – Love and Compassion
Archangel Chamuel is the angel of peaceful relationships; he nurtures love and compassion and helps people to remove barriers from their heart and find peace within themselves.
Archangel Zadkiel – Forgiveness and Transformation
Archangel Zadkiel is the guide of forgiveness, encouraging love and acceptance for ourselves and others. He also offers strength for dealing with wounds and accepting them as milestones in life’s journey.
Archangel Gabriel – Integrity in communication
Archangel Gabriel is widely known as the benefactor of communication, helping to free us from doubts, hesitation and procrastination, which may inhibit us from living our best lives. She passes messages between realms and encourages truth and integrity.
Archangel Sandalphon – Delivery of prayers to Heaven
Sandalphon is Metatron’s twin who, along with his brother, was born human and became an angel. He is linked to the Tree of Life and delivers prayers to Heaven, and is the Archangel of wishes and hopes.
Archangel Uriel – The Light
Archangel Uriel shines the light on us – helping us to grow by spotlighting our inner strengths and weaknesses. His purpose is enlightenment and he will assist in empowering you through light and truth.
Archangel Haniel – Honouring Your Intuition
Haniel is the Archangel of intuition. With her guidance you will learn to honour your feelings and emotions – your intuition – and to trust in them. She also assists people who wish to heighten their psychic abilities and healing arts.
Archangel Jeremiel – Understanding and Forgiveness
The Archangel who helps souls pass from life into the spirit world, Archangel Jeremiel guides us through our ‘life review’, helping us to see problems more clearly and forgive our mistakes so we can learn from them.
Archangel Orion – Manifestation of Miracles
Archangel Orion is the light of manifestation, guiding us to achieve our life’s true purpose, asking us ‘big picture’ questions about our goals and challenging us to see the interconnectedness of everything in the universe.
Archangel Azrael – Transformation
Azrael is known as the Angel of Death, however, this is not the case but the Archangel who comforts the souls of those passing through to the spirit realm as well as supporting the people who are left behind through their grief. Azrael is an angel of transformation.
Archangel Jophiel – Beauty in all Things
Jophiel is the Beauty of God, her guidance allows us to search deep within, finding the inner beauty of our souls. She also encourages people to be grateful for what we have, and to always see the inner beauty in others and our environment too.
Archangel Raguel – Peace and Harmony
Archangel Raguel’s guidance helps us to achieve peace and harmony through finding truth and justice. His support when managing challenges with ourselves or others brings relationships back into balance and his energy is calm and supportive during times that cause us stress.
Archangel Raziel – Spiritual Gifts
Raziel provides encouragement for us to strengthen our connection to the spiritual realm, with his wisdom and guidance you can restore your faith in spirituality and in yourself. His name translates as the Keeper of Secrets – secrets that he will share with you when you have questions or are seeking knowledge about your purpose in life.
If you stop and think (or feel) about it, you’ll probably recognise times in your life when some, or all, of these Archangels have presented themselves to you in times of need. Learning what Archangels do and how to recognise their presence and their messages for you is truly powerful, as it opens you up to their wisdom and guidance fully so they can have a greater influence in your life.
